 Tunable opaque-transparent transition temperature Use of biocompatible and non-toxic materials. Environmental friendly. Low cost and applications in large surface area.

About

Invention The smart window system utilizes the novel material of thermally-induced hydrogel. The material is thermally activated and becomes opaque which can block light through the window when the temperature increases. The smart material can reverse back to transparent when temperature decreases. The opaque-transparent transition temperature of the smart window system can be tuned by adjusting the compositions of the material to suit different desired applications.   Marketing Opportunity Smart window systems can detect and respond to external stimuli such as light or heat. The current systems have the ability to control light transmittance through the glass which enable the reversible control of indoor light and temperature. Potential applications include smart windows and roofs in both commercial and residential buildings, as well as greenhouses. The high cost of traditional smart glass materials limits their practical applications, especially in the field of large-area smart windows and roofs. In contrast, the current material, which is stable, adjustable and biodegradable, can be produced readily with low cost.   Key Benefits Tunable opaque-transparent transition temperature Use of biocompatible and non-toxic materials Environmental friendly Low cost and applications in large surface area
