Invention This novel thermomechanical thrombectomy device removes blockages, such as thrombus, embolus, or blood clots, from blood vessels.  The device is composed of a biocompatible coated wire capable of generating heat elevated the temperature of the blockage to promote adhesion between the wire and the blockage in order to facilitate blockage removal.  The device can be used for treating thrombus, endoluminal occlusion, or ischemic stroke.   Market Opportunity Current available devices only utilize mechanical force to remove the blockage, which increase the possibility of clot fragmentation and vessel wall damages. Alternatively, thrombolysis utilizes drugs to breakdown the blockages. Although it can reduce the chance of clot fragmentation and vessel wall damages; however, it requires longer treatment time and may lead to some fatal side effect, such as SICH (Spontaneous Intracerebral Hemorrhage).
