A Method of Diagnosing Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) using EEG Signal Data

The method relies on a novel way of analysing conventional EEG signals. It yields an EEG parameter that is indicative of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The inventors’ studies on young children have shown that the method can be used to differentiate between ASD children and non-ASD children. The patented invention described a process for analysing EEG signals where by comparing a computed parameter with the value of a control parameter, it is possible to determine whether or not a subject has ASD. The EEG parameters utilised (wavelet total power, wavelet coherence and, in particular, wavelet phase coherence) may be derived for one or more spectral bands.
