About
Virtum HP is a digital histopathology-dedicated cloud-based application that offers virtually unlimited storage and computational resources, which allow to access, manage, process, and analyze WSIs in collaboration and by a distributed team. Virtum HP has been developed for MacOS, Windows and Linux operating systems. Shortly, also browser version will be available. The application supports various data formats. We are especially proud of our highly efficient and user-friendly annotation tools for preparation of labelled training datasets for machine learning: the brush, the pen and the wand. The brush tool allows users to conveniently annotate slides by drawing. The user can adjust the size of the brush, make corrections, fill-in the holes, merge or delete annotations. With the pen tool, the object can be outlined, and the selected area will be automatically filled-in. The wand tool selects a group of contiguous pixels based on the tone and color of the slide. The annotation tools are interoperable to maximize the speed and accuracy of making annotations. The user can save the annotations and send them to the server or exported them to the computer in ASAP or Virtum format. It is also possible to upload annotations. The user can also change annotation display settings - the edge thickness and transparency of the objects. Preparation of training datasets for digital pathology is time-consuming, tedious, and expensive. The extremely positive feedback received from the first users shows us, that Virtum HP tools allow for substantial increase in annotation efficiency, thus reducing the costs of developing AI for histopathology.
