The ultimate vision for this technology is to create a new class of knee braces, sleeves, and wraps that can sense the health of the joint dynamically.

About

Summary Researchers at Georgia Tech have developed a novel set of sensing modalities for providing an in-depth assessment of knee health. Specifically, these modalities include the sounds and swelling of the joint, parameters which can only be measured currently in clinical settings, and typically only in a qualitative manner. We have engineered wearable sensing systems that can quantify features from these modalities in software, and have demonstrated for the first time that these features are sensitive biomarkers of healing progress.
