About

The portable system comprises a 4G enabled tablet computer, plus thermometer, Sp02 and blood pressure monitor. Additional devices include multifunctional blood meter, scales, stethoscope and handheld ECG. All instruments are connected to the tablet with Bluetooth and the tablet will annunciate the readings once they are received confirming completion. The data is uploaded to our cloud-based portal and is accessible by clinicians for input into clinical records. The number of patients able to use the system for the subscription is unlimited. We also provide unlimited training and support at no additional cost. Solcom Limited, as creators of Whzan Digital Health, have been supporting innovation within health and social care since 2010 - delivering applications which lower risk and raise safety. Solcom has developed its digital health product, “The Blue Box” in partnership with the NHS and Local Authorities. The Blue Box is configured to support multiple conditions and patient groups, including APHC, Heart Failure, COPD, and other virtual wards. Our Blue Box is used extensively within the NHS monitoring more than 70,000 care home residents in over 2,500 homes and people at home with LTCs, or short-term conditions, such as hospital discharge monitoring. We are working with over 100 NHS Trusts and Local Authorities right across England and some parts of Scotland. Data received from several NHS studies have consistently reported use of the Blue Box has reduced demand of circa 67% for NHS services such as emergency admissions, hospital bed days and use of 999 and 111 services.

Key Benefits

Whzan is used to identify and monitor health problems for individuals and support tailored person-centred care. Feedback from clients indicate that recipients of the service benefit from significant health improvements evidenced in multiple reports and NHS made videos showing patients using Whzan. The reports contain service user case studies, such as early identification of SEPSIS, UTI, Covid 19 and health deterioration for vulnerable people. Our system has been proven to allow patients to live in their own homes for longer. Using the Whzan Telehealth system creates significant savings of NHS resources. We have multiple NHS reports of substantial reductions in service demand from using Whzan. Reports consistently identify reductions in hospital admissions, A&E attendances and GP visits by up to 70%. The NEAHSN published a report showing the use of Whzan in 8 care homes saved £756,000 in admissions, A&E attendances and ambulance services over just one year. NHS Essex also report NHS service savings of approximately £1m per month through use of Whzan in 250 care homes.

Applications

The Blue Box is used to monitor long term conditions such as COPD and heart failure, and short term conditions, such as pregnancy and post hospital discharge, for patients living at home. It is also used in all types of care homes and by domiciliary care providers and community nurse teams. It has also been selected to perform the remote annual physical health check for those with severe mental illnesses, enabling the health check to take place in the patient's place of residence with no need to attend a clinic or surgery.
