Portfolio of patents related to the WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) technology. WiMax is a technology that provides wireless transmission of data using a variety of transmission modes, from point-to-multipoint links to portable and fully mobile internet access.
The technology provides up to 10Mbit/s broadband speeds without the need for cables. The technology, based upon the IEEE 802.16 standard enables the delivery of last mile wireless broadband access as an alternative to cable and DSL.
Seven U.S. issued patents with priority dates going back to Dec 2004:
Build barrier to entry for competition around new and exisiting business practice as well as support for defensive actions against inbound licensors.
Portfolio is owed by major Asian based telco. Owner will accept bids for indivudal patents or portfolio as a whole.
