Summary

Background

Fujitsu is one of the largest information and communication technology companies in the world and is looking for digital solutions to shape the future of society, together with their customers.

Fujitsu in Europe has a strategy to be recognised for active collaboration with startups. In Japan Fujitsu is highly regarded and is ranked fifth as a large company that actively collaborates with startups. [Nikkei, electronic edition, June 19, 2019]

In Northern Western Europe Fujitsu’s Innovation Ecosystem framework for business and technology cooperation helps startups grow and increase engagement in fast-growing markets.

To help our customers innovate, we are strengthening our ecosystem for Multi Cloud Services with the participation of customers, global partners, technology partners, Fujitsu’s own experts and IP, startups, and academia.  These trusted partner relationships bring in diverse thinking to benefit our customers delivering innovation through different skills and perspectives, complementing our own Fujitsu networks.

Challenge

Focusing on customers that require migration of their existing digital estate, we need to ensure a robust approach to testing and validation.

This is the most important stage of any migration, and for us this breaks down into two key areas.

  1. Platform Verification Testing

Within this area we need to ensure the built components operate as expected, have been built to best practice and have the relevant guardrails in place. The target environment is typically AWS, Azure, GCP or VMware on AWS, and will often be built as Infrastructure as Code.

 2. Workload Testing

The following provides an overview of the migration process, the testing happens in stages 1 (pre-migration) and stage 6 (post migration) with validation of the results, comparing pre and post migration testing results, in stage 7

Currently testing is broken down into:

  • Base Testing (reviews the running state, including running processes and services, and validates booting of the workload)
  • Performance Testing (reviews application performance, responsiveness and may include load testing)
  • Disaster Recovery Testing (validates the disaster recovery configuration)
  • User Acceptance Testing (carried out by the customer)

The aim is to, at a minimum, automate the Base Testing, as this is compulsory and needs to incorporate the pre and post testing elements, the validation of pre vs post and provide status and exception reporting.

What's in it for you?

A successful collaboration could mean, for individuals, becoming part of the wider Fujitsu group, while for organisations, forming a partnership/joint venture to co-develop and co-launch the idea to market.

These are global challenges and Fujitsu are willing to collaborate with both individuals/freelancers and other industry participants/universities etc. and solutions can be at any stage of development.

If you have or are developing solutions, or if you have expertise in the above, please click "Apply" to submit your solution/expertise.
