Equitable Energy Systems Design, Digital Retrofit Planning, and Community-Centric Net Zero Transitions
Expertise
The Centre for Energy Equality (CEE) leads in developing data-led, scalable, and socially equitable energy solutions that align with the operational and strategic priorities of Distribution and Transmission Network Operators. Our core expertise lies in creating integrated digital tools—such as the Fairer Warmth platform—that combine engineering logic, curated data, and behavioural science to support decarbonisation at the local and regional level.
CEE’s systems are designed to model, plan, and deliver retrofit and energy transition strategies that are inclusive, cost-effective, and grid-aware. Our work helps DNOs and TOs identify high-impact interventions, simulate infrastructure scenarios (e.g., through agent-based modelling in projects like the Gas Network Evolution Simulator), reduce energy demand, and protect vulnerable consumers. With a focus on whole-system thinking, CEE bridges the gap between digital infrastructure, consumer insight, and practical delivery—enabling energy networks to transition faster and fairer.
