Mike Handley is PolyChord’s Chief Executive and General Manager. He is the lead in managing the commercial implementations of the company’s high-level data analysis technology. He has 40 years of experience in leading and running businesses, and was Creative Group Head at the UK’s first marketing and advertising company to become a plc. Mike has also been managing partner in a product design and development company where design and 3D prototyping has been done in England, product tooled and manufactured in mainland China and imported back into the UK in containers to be retailed through John Lewis partnership. Mike provides organisational and planning skills to commercially implement PolyChord’s cutting-edge technology and uses his long experience of client management to interface effectively with large commercial organisations. Mike has extensive experience of project management, has organised and managed large film production crews and operations in the past with budgets of £750,000 and has spent the last ten years managing coding developments. Mike helped form the PolyChord company in late 2017. Since then he has headed up a grant funding initiative for PolyChord Ltd which brought in Queens University Belfast and the National Research Council of Canada in a £400,000 food science initiative through Innovate UK; he has also brought in over £500,000 of STFC funding to further refine the PolyChord core technology and produce its first Optimised Machine Learning toolkit; and recently a £130,000 funded satellite data project gaining insights into shipping and navigation through the European Space Agency. Mike is now leading the company through further high calibre recruitment and targeted expansion.
