Expertise

The role involves identifying promising Medical Technologies emerging from the Grow MedTech consortium and its networks, matching with academic capability, company partners and other collaborators and providing the support and management to de-risk these technologies ready for investment. In previous roles, external stakeholder engagement has formed the core of my activities - bringing industry/clinicians together with researchers from universities across the UK to accelerate the commercial development of new medical technology products and services and delivering numerous strategic sector-specific workshops and public engagement events. There has been integration of university activities by promoting effective interdisciplinary working and communication across multiple Faculties (Mech Eng, Medicine & Health, Dentistry, Biol Sciences) whilst delivering development programmes to embed a culture of innovation in researchers and students. I provide technical input, expert opinion and project management services. I have considerable experience of facilitating the articulation of unmet clinical needs, scoping new technology areas, evaluating scientific and commercial propositions and seeking new markets for novel and existing technologies. I have previously gained over 10 years experience in a market-leading medical devices company working on bone and cartilage R&D projects and in the development of wound care technologies. Over this time the role involved the leadership of research projects, technology scoping and road-mapping, evaluation of offered technologies and the generation of investment proposals for the business. Technology areas - medical devices, cell therapies, tissue engineering, biological scaffolds, biomaterials, diagnostics, personalised medicine, med tech industry. Supporting translation and impact within research, R&D support services, technology scoping & roadmapping, market intelligence, clinical insights, due diligence, consortium building.
