I work with Google, Shell, Lenovo and the Department for International Trade on the practical applications and implementation of XR in the field. Working across the fields of Energy, Engineering, Education and Communications, my role is to generate cost and time efficiencies, reduce risk and carbon footprint by leveraging the onsite and offsite advantages of Virtual and Augmented Reality. Combining XR with IoT sensor technology and 3D modelling to create live, digital twins that contextualise critical on-site information to stakeholders anywhere in the world, and though connected augmented reality hardware, allow centralised specialists to guide onsite workers to correct any issue that might arise instantly and without lengthy shutdown times. I also apply artificially intelligent data analytics tools to meaningfully interrogate this information over time to identify trends for the purposes of predictive analytics, planning and generation of closed loop corrective actions on recurrent issues. Finally we apply our experience of organisation wide digital transformation to ensure understanding and uptake across people and organisational processes, to make sure there is buy in and quantifiable benefit of this technology over time to the organisation -bridging the gap between OT (Operations Technology) and IT (Information Technology). This approach has been usefully applied across the oil and gas sector, renewable energy, health and medicine and even education from school to college, University and practical/professional levels.
