SVX mimics spider silk in nature - stronger than steel yet elastic and transparent. Its porosity enables slow-release of antimicrobials to improve shelf-life and safety of food.

About

Seevix produces high-strength patented SVX™ Spidersilk by means of unique recombinant DNA technologies, which allow us to replicate the natural process of spider silk creation. Using SVX, Seevix generates novel composite materials whose extraordinary toughness, resilience and biocompatibility can radically improve existing products and provide solutions for unmet needs in many industries, such as sports, medical devices, food & beverage, cosmetics, textiles, defense, 3D printing, aeronautics and automotive. SVX is green, sustainable and animal-free. We have strategic collaborations in place with leading multinational companies, which focus on addressing unmet industry needs.

Key Benefits

Natural spider silk is six times stronger than high tensile steel of the same diameter but only 1/5 its weight, and its elasticity enables it to stretch up to 35% without tearing. It is chemically resilient and durable up to 230C. SVX, which mimics natural spider silk, is protein-based and manufactured under controlled conditions in a sustainable, scalable process, which does not involve toxic chemicals or waste, and which is animal-free. We replicate the natural process by inducing the proteins’ self-assembly into a complex nano- and microfiber-structured fiber. Seevix’s technology offers a combination of high-value properties: 1. Sustainable: SVX is degradable under controlled conditions into amino acids. SVX is not petroleum-based. SVX is recyclable and environmentally friendly. 2. Significantly improved tear resistance: SVX enriched composite materials have an increased elastic modulus without a decrease in strain (elongation) properties. 3. Antimicrobial: SVX fibers are porous and can be loaded with antimicrobial compounds for slow release from a fabric to maintain shelf-life and safety.
