Summary

Background

Our client, a global Food & Beverage manufacturer, is seeking a widely approved protocol (EU) that estimates the average energy consumption of professional coffee equipment and thus the CO2 emissions.

Our client believes this could be achieved as following:

Option A) Using a widely approved protocol (EU) that estimates the average energy consumption of professional coffee equipment and thus the CO2 emissions (similar to the coolers grading).

Machine model/version X number of machines in the market X average energy consumption/year = CO2 footprint

Option B) Measuring the actual energy consumption of the machine and transmitting through telemetry the data to a portal.

Machine serial number X KWs consumed X days = CO2 footprint

Option A) would be considered more simple, fast and low cost solution, while Option B) would be more expensive, complex and time consuming to implement.

Challenge

Currently, there is no such protocol for classifying the energy efficiency of professional coffee machines/equipment; therefore, we cannot measure the energy consumption.

Our client is interested in solutions that fit, or will fit into, one of the following categories;

  • Solutions being implemented into other markets e.g. domestic coffee equipment, hot vending machines, or coolers
  • Protocols in development from less-known markets
  • Private companies in discussion with / experts in EU Commission Protocol
  • Novel ideas for accurate measurement of energy consumption and, by extension, CO2 footprint

What's in it for you?

Solutions of interest will be considered from the EU, US, or other markets.

Our client is seeking recognised, validated, creditable, and certifiable solutions with the opportunity for development and implementation into a wide and well-established network.
