Background

This global technology company supplies systems for passenger cars, commercial vehicles and industrial technology, enabling the next generation of mobility.

With its comprehensive product portfolio, the company offers integrated solutions for established vehicle manufacturers, mobility providers and startup companies in the fields of transportation and mobility.

Challenge

For current design of pneumatic braking valves used for commercial vehicle, the exhaust port (3) is open to external atmosphere. When the devices is immersed in water, water could ingress into device through exhaust port, as shown in above schematic diagram.

Current pneumatic braking valves structure:

Chassis mounted and 2 working steps

  • Braking: Brake pressure up to 13bar nominal ~10bar, refer to port 21
  • Braking pressure release via port 3: release from 13bar ->0 bar with air volume of >2L in reasonable duration (~500ms)

In regards to the Moisture Absorbing Materials, it is required that the solution is:
