Summary

Background

As a major financial services company, our client always has its sights set on the future. One of the areas that it is now exploring is the wonderful (and complex) world of quantum computing. In addition to learning and experimenting with this technology, another goal it has is to share those learnings with the wider company to better prepare it for the era of quantum supremacy.

Challenge

As our client’s classically-trained developers will be the ones mostly directly impacted by the introduction of quantum computing, our client would like to produce an experience that will help these developers with quantum gamification.

Since the client has already developed several foundational and passive learning experiences, the goal of this challenge is to develop an active experience or game that promotes a deeper understand of why and how quantum systems offer an advantage over classical computation.

While this experience could be digital, our client is also very interested in:

  •   A physical game that could be played at a live meet-up (a card or board game)
  • A mixed-media experience / game, that might include live play with a mobile app (for example, to supply a simple quantum simulator).

The experience / game should be aimed at those who have a demonstrated interest in quantum computing. They generally know what a qubit is and have a high-level sense of how quantum computing will provide an advantage over classical systems, but they may not know quantum mechanics and probably haven’t touched a quantum library yet. This experience should help them see why it’s time to take that next step.

Possible topics could include:

- General concepts (e.g. superposition, entanglement)

- Quantum circuit design,

 -Quantum algorithms

What's in it for you?

This is a global challenge and our client is willing to collaborate with both individuals/freelancers and other industry participants/universities on a solution that can be developed to answer this challenge.  While the planned scope of this solution is for internal use only, depending on the scope and design, we could be open to a joint marketing opportunity.
