Challenge

Brickworks are looking for alternative fuels to hydrocarbons for the firing of clay bricks in tunnel kilns that are sustainable and eco-friendly.

Since 2005/06, Brickworks have continued to invest in alternate fuels, manufacturing consolidation, equipment upgrades and operational improvements. This has driven a general downward trend in carbon emissions, with a 45% decrease compared to the base year 2005/06 (Scope 1 & 2).

Brickworks has a vision to reduce greenhouse gas intensity further by exploring the various potential decarbonisation technologies and pivoting away from natural gas as their core source of energy.
