Background
Coca-Cola HBC operates one of the largest logistics networks in Europe, managing complex distribution flows across multiple markets and transportation modes. With growing regulatory pressure, customer expectations, complexity and corporate sustainability commitments, reducing emissions in logistics hubs is a top strategic priority.
Today’s challenge goes beyond efficiency — it’s about creating green efficient logistics centers that actively contribute to decarbonisation. Through the Green Hub concept, we aim to build new and adapt current facilities that serve as energy-smart, circular, and low-emission operational models, aligning with Coca-Cola HBC’s Net Zero by 2040 ambition.
By exploring innovative solutions, we aim to:
- Reduce Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions from logistics operations
- Optimise energy consumption and integrate renewable sources
- Improve current setup through leveraging technology, establishing new processes to ensure the most efficient logistic operation
- Enable data-driven monitoring of carbon emission, tracking performance at each step, impacting the overall energy consumption
- Strengthen the overall sustainability approach in our logistics network
The goal is to design and implement a Green Hub using data-driven, technology-enabled, and circular approaches that reduce CO₂ emissions, optimise resource allocation, and enhance sustainability performance across the entire value chain.
These solutions should integrate new developed technologies using renewable energy, intelligent network infrastructure, and smart mobility systems — enabling Coca-Cola HBC to get prepared to operate carbon-conscious logistics hubs that are both - resilient and future-ready.
Challenge
Coca-Cola HBC invite solutions that demonstrate how Green Hub innovation can:
- Reduce CO₂ emissions through smart technology, lean infrastructure, renewable energy and productivity improvement
- Optimise transportation & distribution routes and handling equipment through new technologies
- Implement real-time data visibility dashboards and speed up decision making processes
- Improve operational layouts to accommodate volatility through enhanced flexibility of our resources, using minimal energy with maximum throughput
- Integrate green criteria within existing WMS, TMS, and site automation systems
- Provide measurable system across all activities to increase visibility on CO2 emission
Solutions may involve technological innovations, process redesigns, or cross-sector collaborations that support the creation of a carbon-neutral logistics hub model.
