Background
Direct Line Group (DLG) is a FTSE 250, UK leading personal lines insurer, providing motor, home, rescue, pet and commercial insurance to millions of customers.
DLG Auto Services is Direct Line Group’s UK network of 23 wholly owned bodyshops. By investing in new technologies, we are preparing the business for the future and will have a better understanding of how technology will affect the design and manufacture of cars.
Our high operating efficiency allows us to deliver excellent cost control whilst meeting our approved Science Based Targets through lowering emissions.
Challenge
To meet our Science Based Target of reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions by nearly 50% by 2030, DLG Auto Services are looking for new, innovative ways to reduce electricity consumption at our bodyshop sites.
DLG Auto Services are also looking for innovative solutions to generate energy through on-site solutions, to provide electricity to the bodyshops and reduce reliance on the grid.
Direct Line Group is looking for innovations that can:
- Improve and/or reduce electricity consumption at our bodyshop sites across the UK
- Produce renewable energy and provide electricity to these sites.
Direct Line Group is particularly interested in solutions that are ready for market, but all stages of development will be considered.
What's in it for you?
A successful collaboration could mean implementing the chosen solution(s) on a single bodyshop site where we would work in partnership to test and learn from the change.
If this trial is successful there is then the opportunity to implement this solution across the UK network of 23 bodyshop sites, adapting and building on the lessons learned, and developing a strong partnership with Direct Line Group for the future.
This is a global Challenge and Direct Line is willing to collaborate with both individuals and freelancers, and other industry participants, universities, etc.
Direct Line will have an internal review of all applications once the Challenge has closed. Successful applicants will be contacted at this point.
