Summary

Background

KBR is a global engineering solutions provider at the forefront of technological innovation. We are constantly evolving, and moving industries and our customers forward, to deliver leading science, technology, and engineering solutions across the globe.

Our Australian Infrastructure Services business plans, designs and delivers a wide range of infrastructure projects. Focus markets include transport (rail, roads, ports), water (dams, pipelines, sewage, water treatment plants), buildings, defence infrastructure, program management and construction consultancy.

Challenge

KBR Infrastructure Services is seeking input to push the boundaries of sustainable infrastructure impact and performance assessments.

The aim is to determine how we evaluate our performance in our project work against SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production. Specifically, we want to be able to identify inputs we need to collect, the process for evaluating these inputs and impacts of the project, and the outputs to measure our progress.

We are looking for ideas and innovation in terms of the following:

1. Review process for project(s) at the bid/conception stage and forecast how the project will track against Goal 12 targets (see e.g. SDG Tracker (sdg-tracker.org)).

2. Identify initial data gaps in a current project against SDG12 and how to manage uncertainties resulting from these gaps.

3. Identify impacts of the project, most importantly, risk areas in the project which need to be managed to not cause a negative impact on the targets. Also identify opportunities for making a positive impact on the SDG through our project work.

4. Identify mechanisms and metrics to update inputs, track progress and refine output/reporting while the project is being carried out.

5. Determine how to review outcomes and performance, and report during the project lifecycle and once project is completed, keeping in mind established ESG reporting frameworks and possibly drawing upon them.

What's in it for you?

We will work with the successful parties to come to mutually beneficial engagements and explore mechanisms such as partnerships/joint ventures, licensing to co-develop and co-launch initiatives.

KBR Infrastructure Services are willing to collaborate with both individuals/freelancers and other industry participants/universities etc. and solutions can be at any stage of development.
