Summary

Background

The Mandela Mining Precinct is a public-private collaboration between the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) and the Minerals Council of South Africa. It is an initiative aimed at revitalising mining research, development and innovation in South Africa to ensure the sustainability of the industry.

Challenge

Mandela Mining Precinct are looking to find available innovative solutions from around the world in Real Time Data from Mining Machines (drill rates, penetration rates, timing etc) and bring those relevant solutions to the South African Mining community.

Some key areas/factors to consider:

  • How is the information delivered to the surface?
  • Where are the systems positioned?
  • What information is available for review?
  • Who can access the information and what persona does the information assist (Manager, Team Leader, Engineer etc)
