Development and manufacture of CO2 heat pumps and refrigeration soutions

Expertise

Glaciem believe that large scale CO2 heat pumps will enable the sustainable (not using CO2 directly) solution for process cooling of flour or dough. Concurrently the cooling process can produce high temperature hot water which can be used for other productive purposes in the Mondelez facility (e.g. sanitation, process heating, space heating). CO2 refrigeration solutions can use DX (direct expeansion) CO2 cooled to very low temperatures in an efficient refrigeration cycle to serve various process cooling technologies which could readily and rapidly cool the flour or dough. Examples would include triple or double jacketed vessels for batch cooling or jacketed screws or plate coolers (similar to plate freezers). These processes all can exploit the high heat transfer capabilities of CO2 and fine detail control available with electronic expansion valves. Glaciem has the experience to design such solutions and to work with suitable fabricators to experiment, prototype and build such systems.
