I have a background in both technology and business and specialise in the development and commercialisation of new products of a technical nature. Have a PhD in physical chemistry and experience across the full range of the technical business area: through being an R&D scientist/engineer, R&D manager, founder and CEO of start-up companies, manager of a manufacturing business within a large multinational corporate structure, and a business consultant. I am also an author on 19 patents to date so often make contributions to the IP as well as being able to structure and advise on patents. I spent 14 years in the UK working in the area of scientific instrumentation, including founding HD Technologies Ltd which was later acquired by the Thermo Electron Corporation. On returning to Australia in 2002 founded PD Analytical Pty Ltd (a consulting company) and Aqualysis Pty Ltd (a water analysis company). As well as founding three start-ups have been brought in as CEO of several start-ups by investors. I have also held executive roles in multinational companies (Shimadzu and Thermo Fisher). I have made commercial assessments of hundreds of companies across a wide range of technology areas (both hardware and software), as well as providing mentoring services and commercialisation advice, as a Case Manager for the Commercialisation Australia program and as a Commercialisation Adviser for the Accelerating Commercialisation program.
