Sustainable Agriculture

Recognised as a leader in sustainable agriculture, with experience in over 40 countries, SAN supports businesses, governments, NGOs, communities, and other stakeholders to move forward with their sustainability agenda in a practical and cost-effective way.

SAN’s approach emphasises participatory engagement with people and communities that organise their daily livelihoods around the world’s ecosystems; and the transfer of knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary
through hands-on practical application as part of the process for local partners to effectively sustain and scale programs.

We are laser focused on accelerating the adoption of regenerative agriculture at scale to make a significant contribution towards reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, increased biodiversity and ecosystem health, and improved rural livelihoods.

SAN’s work began in 1998 with the development of the Sustainable Agriculture Standard that enabled the certification of more than almost two million small, medium, and large producers. Since then, SAN has evolved to develop guiding principles and programs to address climate adaptation and mitigation, restore biodiversity and help rural communities return to strong agriculture economies.
